With time comes... Age!
Age is something that definitely comes with time and these days I calculated that I am approximately 637 years old. That is at least by the number of my birthdays, since my daughter would tease me every morning, saying: "Today is your birthday!" Sometimes this would be followed by a revealing "Pustekuchen", which translates to "You wish".
Around the time when my daughter had just gotten the long awaited bike seat for her "Baby Born"-doll, it happened that my boy asked many questions (and he still does). Back then, his subject of interest were elderly people, having not too much hair and teeth any more or finding it hard to walk. In short, he wanted to know, whether his Grandpa would be one day becoming a baby again. Clearly dealing with another philosophical misunderstanding here, on the other hand, at that time we were searching for a possibility to visualize a birthday card greeting saying "You remained very young for your age!" You will find the result below.
What touches me most here is thinking of which kid ever has the opportunity to meet the own Great-Great-Grandmother. She would pass away just four weeks after her 100th birthday, as if she just wanted to make it. It was unbelievable to shake her one century old hand and wish her well one day after the birthday, while I was in the area for a business trip. Asking her, whether she felt like the Sleeping Beauty, waking up after 100 years that morning was one thing. And reminding her that she was one month older than John Wayne. "Courage is being scared to death - and AGING anyway," as he might have put it...
There are certain values, you could not possibly insure enough. You just try to hold on to them as much as you can.
