Once I took a photo of an uncle in a typical pose. At first I didn't see it, but on the print there was another creature visible. A jungle animal of the same nickname. Some of the animated gif's on this page are a couple years old. Kids have changed since, and so have we.
The picture right above is not animated, the wine glass doesn't move towards the mouth! That only happens in real life. "Wulle-wulle wap-wap", as they say in the Danish TV-cartoon, ín German "Pulle-Pulle schwapp-schwapp (bottle-bottle swash-swash)"?
In one way or another, this all started many years ago with a picture of the Teletubbies. A photograph of my kid's placemat and a simple copy and paste of some familiar faces.
Walking through the park with open eyes you may discover little miracles such as an ordinary frog. Well, on second thought, froggy looked rather impressive...
On the Krk Island within the Croatian part of the Adria, we took this "Aquavision" boat tour. Hearing so much lately about diving, we decided for a more comfortable boat ride with windows and a little diving show under water, a guy bringing us uncooked seafood to the window. The kids called the sea stars Patrick, while there were not too many sponges. And then it happened!
Lately we had heard rumours about tourists spotting sharks at the coast, while locals had always referred to Dolphins instead, wonder why. And finally we saw this shark opening his fierce mouth in front of us – when being already back home looking at the TV guide. So the kids found it a good idea to alter a somewhat boring picture I had taken and add a little excitement to it.
Below you see one of those fake-faced Dollar bills. Not a very original idea, I admit, but it is something... Wouldn't you also like to be famous and loved like George Washington? Or is it just that paper he is on? Just get your feet back on the ground now and count, how much is left in your wallet this month.
A quick barbecue, also known as "Grillage" - how can someone be that fast in preparing such tasty food? The lens could barely capture him. Nearby is a familiar two-face of an aunt following the motto: Like mother, like daughter. A striking resemblance!
Remember the good old flip-book? In German you would call it "Daumenkino - thumb cinema" after the finger you use to turn those pages containing self-drawn images that make the movie. Nowadays you use animated gif's, an abbreviation for the Graphical Interchange Format, and more modern Flash technology to enhance a website, following the good old motto "We like to move it." Once in a while also a static picture can breathe life into your web presence, especially if it is one of those impossible compilations that make one pause for a moment in awe and take a second look...
